Kadha for Corona by Ayush | Ingredients for Kadha

Following Ayurveda, the ancient medicine system, a kadha would often be prescribed by Ayurvedic practitioners during the change of season, flu season, or the monsoon, and also to help fight general fevers and the common cold. Ayurvedic Kadha for corona or Ayush Kadha for corona can be made using simple ingredients found in every Indian household.

Tulsi (holy basil), an aromatic perennial plant found in many Indian homes is beneficial in the common cold.

    Does Tulsi increase immunity?

Yes, Tulsi naturally boosts the immune system by keeping infections at bay. Tulsi is particularly helpful against viruses, fungi, bacteria etc. It is used in making this kadha for corona along with dalchini or cinnamon sticks which are renowned for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.

The next ingredient, black pepper, not only has antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory properties but also helps in reducing fever and giving a boost to the body's immune system.

Dried ginger, sometimes known as Sonth or Shunthi is universally used as a pain killer, and is good for easing headaches.

Munakka or large seeded raisins are very effective in healing inflammation of respiratory tract as well as dry cough with its cough suppressing properties.

Is kadha good for sore throat?

Yes, it will help you if you have a sore throat. All these corona kadha ingredients, when combined, help boost your body’s natural immunity during these tough times while a vaccine for Coronavirus is still awaited.

From ancient times onwards, kadha or kashyams were prescribed by hakims and were the one-stop answer to questions such as ‘what helps a cough and cold? How can I speed up my cold recovery? What to do when you can't stop coughing? What will stop a cough instantly?’ Intake of kadha was the answer to all these questions.

How to make Kadha for Corona:

Follow our Kadha for corona recipe - take about half a litre of water and add seven to eight tulsi leaves, one small cinnamon stick (dalchini), four whole black peppercorns, half a teaspoon of dried ginger (sonth), and four munakkas (large seeded raisins). Bring this mix to a boil and then allow it simmer till it is reduced to half. Divide into two cups and serve hot. You can mix a bit of jaggery and lemon juice to improve the taste of this kadha, if required. Though this decoction serves two people, you can double or quadruple the ingredients to make a bigger batch.

We are often asked ‘How can I fight viral fever naturally?’ This all-natural, super easy, and healthy kadha will not only help during Covid times but will also help you fight a viral fever naturally.

    Drinks which double as immunity-boosters:

Besides the kadha, you can have 60 ml of warm turmeric milk mixed with a bit of black pepper powder, also known as golden milk or Haldi Doodh before bedtime. Haldi or turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and helps fight diseases and is helped in absorption into the body by black pepper.

Besides, add honey, fresh grated ginger or dry ginger powder, fresh tulsi leaves, pepper powder, grated fresh turmeric to your daily green tea in small quantities for added taste and immunity-boosting properties. You could pick a combination of two or three of these ingredients as per taste to add to your tea.

    Stay strong and stay safe!
