    INGREDIENTS

    3/4 cup sugar
    1/3 cup cream, need thick cream
    3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/4 cup butter
    4 bananas, ripe, peeled and halved lengthwise
    2 tablespoon brown sugar, preferably light brown sugar

    COOKING METHOD

    1. Place a heavy saucepan over medium heat and add sugar. Once the sugar begins to melt, swirl the pan occasionally till the sugar melts completely and turn dark brown. Be careful not to let the sugar burn.
       
    2. Remove from heat and carefully add the cream, stirring vigorously. The mixture will tend to bubble and rise up. Place the pan on low heat and continue to whisk till no lumps remain and the caramel sauce is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Set aside.
       
    3. Place a heavy skillet over high heat and add the butter. Once the butter stops foaming, reduce the heat to medium and carefully place the bananas, cut side up, into the skillet. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar and cook for 1 minute before turning very carefully.
       
    4. Sprinkle the remaining sugar on the bananas and continue to cook for another minute till lightly browned.
       
    5. Remove from heat and carefully place on a serving plate. Top with caramel sauce and serve hot.
