    INGREDIENTS

    Crumble
    125 gram all-purpose flour (maida), (maida)
    125 gram brown sugar
    1/3 teaspoon cinnamon powder
    60 gram butter, creamed
    1/3 cup dried cranberries
    3 cup strawberries, sliced in half, coated with 1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and frozen for at least 6 hours. thawed before use.
    3 marie biscuits, or digestive biscuits

    1 teaspoon butter
    4 apples, preferably red delicious, peeled and cut into thin wedges

    COOKING METHOD

    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
       
    2. To make the crumble, place flour (maida) in a large bowl and mix in brown sugar and cinnamon powder. Add butter and use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour mixture till you have a granular, bread crumb-like mixture. Alternatively, mix this in a food processor till you get the same granular mixture.
       
    3. Add cranberries to the mixture. Then squash the thawed strawberries with your fingers and mix them into the crumble mixture. Finally, crush the marie biscuits into small pieces and add them to the crumble. Set aside.
       
    4. Prepare a 7-inch x 7-inch baking dish by generously buttering the inner base and sides of the dish. Lay the apple wedges, overlapping, to entirely cover the base of the dish. Repeat for a second layer.
       
    5. Sprinkle or lightly drop the crumble mixture over the apples, without smoothing or pressing down on the mixture; you want it to be uneven.
       
    6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, until the top is golden. Remove and rest for 10 minutes before serving.
       
    7. Serve with vanilla ice cream or clotted cream.
